| Rima Imburgia
is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and a National
Certified Counselor with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from
The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to that,
she earned her B.S. in Business and worked fifteen years in
the corporate arena where she continues to consult for fortune
500 companies.
Since 2004, Rima has worked as a psychotherapist
for Claret Center in Hyde Park where she first began as an
intern. Her clinical experience includes outpatient long-term,
short-term, and crisis work with individuals, couples and
groups, providing care for mental health issues related to;
depression, anxiety, loss, addictive behaviors, sex assault,
selfinjury, trauma, family problems, conflict resolution,
relationships, sexuality, LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer), identity, cultural conflict, anger, loss of meaning
and self-development.
Her work is grounded in a holistic perspective
and anchored by her personal commitment to experiential learning
focused on diversity, women’s issues and the social-cultural
context that shape our lives. She is passionate about working
through difference with non-violence, nurturing selfacceptance
and building leadership competencies. She has led and facilitated
workshops and groups focused on support, self-differentiation,
authentic leadership, and integrating sexuality and spirituality.
Rima’s therapeutic style may be described
as relational, honoring and attending to the client’s
full experience while striving for authentic connection. Informed
by client needs, her work is drawn from an eclectic mix of
therapeutic orientations and interventions including traditional
talk therapy, relational-cultural therapy, and contemporary
cognitive, behavioral and body focused therapies. |
